Frame Developer’s Kit

The Adobe Frame Developer’s Kit (FDK) brings value-added resellers, independent software vendors, and end-users alike the opportunity to extend, customize, and create value-added applications around FrameMaker®, FrameViewer®, and FrameMaker+SGML. FDK-based extensions can be as simple as adding a new menu item, or as complex as building a totally new application around the Frame formatting engine.

FDK Components

The Frame Developer’s Kit consists of a set of cross-platform development tools including:

  • Frame Application Program Interface (API)
  • Frame Development Environment (FDE)

Frame API

The Frame API is a set of libraries, header files, and makefiles. It allows you to develop applications that communicate with a Frame product session directly. Developers can use C or any programming language with compatible calling conventions. For more info checkout here.

The Frame API offers:

  • The ability to manipulate any Frame object directly in your API application. Frame treats the components of a document such as paragraphs and tables as objects. Each object has a unique identifier and a set of associated properties. For example, pen color and fill patterns are properties of a rectangular object. With the Frame API, external programs can get, set, or check virtually all parameters of a Frame document including its contents, formats, and structure. Moreover, developers can create, delete or re-arrange Frame objects easily by making simple API calls
  • A set of standard dialog boxes. Applications that require interactive user input can bring up a file browser, a scroll list or other types of dialog boxes to prompt for input data. Your applications can also display warnings and error messages in different types of alert boxes.
  • Configurable user interface. Your API program can add its own menu items and keyboard shortcuts to the standard Frame menus, or respond to a particular user-initiated event.
  • A variety of debugging and error checking routines. These resources help developers in building reliable and optimized software.
  • Sample applications These API programs illustrate the essence of Frame API programming and demonstrate the power of integration. Frame Development Environment

In most heterogeneous environments, it is essential to port applications across different platforms. FDE can help you make your Frame API applications portable to other platforms supported by Frame products. It provides platform-independent alternatives to platform-specific I/O, string, memory allocation schemes and libraries. Using this interface software developers can write one set of code and port it to other platforms with minimal effort. In most cases, your API program can be ported to a different platform after a simple recompilation.

Applications based on the Frame API use different mechanisms to work with Adobe Frame products on different platforms. On UNIX, API applications are separate processes that use the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) mechanism to communicate with the Frame product. On Windows, API clients are dynamic link libraries (DLLs) that provide entry points or call back functions that an Adobe Frame product can invoke. On Macintosh, FDK clients are dynamically loaded modules with a specific code resource type. Despite these various system specifics FDK developers only need to program at the Frame API level and the resulting code will work across different platforms.


DataMgr is a distributed file management package that manages your client and/or server disks to provide unattended magnetic disk resource management. It reduces the need for more expensive magnetic disk storage by transparently assigning data to the most cost-effective storage media. DataMgr also provides both transparent file migration and the ability to directly access optical disk jukeboxes and/or tape libraries through its layered integration with the AMASS® software.

DataMgr provides additional capability for the AMASS virtual file system. As a layered product to AMASS, DataMgr introduces hierarchical storage management (HSM) into your full heterogeneous client/server or centralized configurations.

DataMgr’s HSM functions automatically and transparently migrate infrequently used data from local storage on your clients or file servers usually hard disk drives. AMASS then moves the data to less expensive media, such as magnetic tape, optical disk, or optical tape. This frees storage space on your faster, more expensive storage devices for better utilization of resources.

Your EMASS advantage: All of these functions are transparent to the user, making it seem as though each client workstation has a local hard drive with virtually unlimited storage capacity.

DataMgr provides user-selectable migration criteria with transparent access. Migration types include: Explicit-initiated by user requests, Periodic-initiated during non-peak times and Demand-initiated automatically when space is exhausted in the file system. Files can be migrated based on file age, file size, minimum age and size thresholds, and file location. In addition, files and directories can be locked against migration if desired.

Elle doit être accompagnée d’une preuve de l’évènement (acte de décès pour le registre des testaments, certificat d’inaptitude pour le registre des mandats).
  • À la suite d’une recherche, une liste d’inscriptions est sélectionnée pour laquelle une ou plusieurs copies de certificats, selon la demande, sont émises.
  • Toute autorité centrale ayant juridiction sur les notaires dans un pays donné exige que les notaires expédient, périodiquement, la liste des inscriptions sur leurs registres.
  • Les types d’inscriptions traités actuellement sont les suivants:
    • Pour le registre des testaments: testaments, dépôt, codicilles et révocations. Un codicille est une modification de testament, alors qu’une révocation est une annulation de testament. Un dépôt est un testament rédigé à la main.

COLD Software


FileNet’s Computer Output to Laser Disk (COLD(TM)) software is an advanced application package that provides an efficient, economical solution for archiving computer-generated output such as customer statements, banking, and accounting reports, or any information traditionally converted to microfilm and microfiche, on the optical disk for permanent storage.

COLD software reads data from magnetic tape generated by a mainframe, or from a file received electronically from a mainframe or other host system. COLD software then processes the data, creating documents available for storage, retrieval, multi-user display, and manipulation with WorkFlo® software processing.

COLD software is a cost-effective, error-free document entry method because the exact information is transferred to optical disk without the need to print, scan, or re-key. And you have quick access to accurate information without having to deal with cumbersome hardcopy reports or manually retrieve microfilm or microfiche.

When integrated with FileNet’s WorkFlo Business System software and its powerful Image Management Services (IMS) software, COLD software provides inexpensive, on-line access to volumes of information, and lets you streamline your daily business operations and increase employee productivity.

COLD Instead of COM

Unlike the resource and time-consuming Computer Output to Microfiche (COM), COLD software is fast and easy. Computer output is downloaded directly using industry standard file transfer protocols such as RAE and FTP. Or, the data can be output to nine-track or IBM 3480 cartridges, then loaded into a FileNet system for COLD software processing.

Access to documents is immediate after processing. The documents are accessible by multiple users concurrently, right at their desktops. And to maximize system throughput during prime business hours, COLD software processing can run as a background task, after-hours, or on standalone systems.

Report documents can be merged with scanned background images that contain headings, titles, and other important information. These templates are stored only once, not with every associated page, saving optical disk and mainframe space while increasing system productivity.

Based on parameters defined by you, COLD software automatically indexes each document using up to 25 fields. While each report can be viewed as an individual document with its own indexing information, it is also possible for COLD software to combine reports into a single document for faster access. COLD software then generates a table of contents for the multiple report document and stores it as the first page of the document. To access the information, you need simply review the table of contents to find the page number of the individual report required.

With COLD software, report formatting is controlled by a number of operators entered parameters such as the number of characters per line, the number of lines per page, fixed or variable page documents, the location of index information, and the name of the document class. These are stored and recalled the next time the same report format is run, allowing for quick set-up of COLD software jobs and reducing the possibility of entering incorrect parameters.

Easy Integration with Document Imaging

WorkFlo scripts can be designed to retrieve COLD documents, search through the table of contents, and display, print, or fax the desired pages of a document. When COLD documents are used with image documents, your ability to more efficiently automate business processes is greatly enhanced.

With WorkFlo you can automate the retrievals of appropriate COLD and image documents to any workstation running FileNet display software or network enabled laser printer. Ad hoc queries and retrievals are also easy using FileNet’s Image Display for Windows software application. No programming is required, you just point and click to display, print, or fax.

COLD documents are stored as coded data and only need to be processed once; however, the same document can then be used simultaneously by many other applications throughout an enterprise. Just design WorkFlo scripts to extract portions of the COLD document and transfer them automatically to a form generated by File Net’s AutoForm software or to any Microsoft Windows Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)-compliant application running on your desktops, such as spreadsheets or word processing documents.
